Most evaluations are completed in a single appointment lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes. This includes a clinical interview and the completion of standard psychological screening tools.

Is this a pass or fail test?

No. This is a clinical assessment designed to identify your strengths and any areas where you might need extra support following surgery. The goal is to provide your surgical team with a well-rounded understanding of your readiness and to help you create a plan for long-term success.

What if I am not immediately cleared for surgery?

Being not immediately cleared does not mean you will never qualify. In some cases, Dr. Coy may recommend specific steps—such as therapy, support groups, or medical follow-up—to help you become a stronger candidate. He works collaboratively with you and your surgical team to ensure a clear, supportive path forward.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Yes. All evaluation information is protected under HIPAA regulations. Your report will only be shared with the referring surgical provider you designate. No information will be released to other parties without your written consent.

What do I need to do to prepare?

There is no way to study for this evaluation, and you do not need to. The best preparation is to be honest and open.

• A Private Space: A quiet, indoor room where you can speak freely without interruptions.

• Technology: A stable internet connection. A laptop or desktop is preferred, though tablets and smartphones are compatible.

Do you accept my insurance?
